AAIS Energy Storage Society Launched

In April 2026, the Energy Storage Society of the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences (AAIS) was officially established. Initiated and chaired by Professor Li Xiangjun, Director of the Institute of Energy Storage and New Electrical Engineering Technology at the China Electric Power Research Institute, the AAIS Energy Storage Society boasts an advisory team of over twenty academicians and a leadership team of over ten experts, bringing together more than 2,000 scholars, experts, and business professionals from universities, research institutions, power companies, and the field of artificial intelligence worldwide.


The establishment of the AAIS Energy Storage Society is not only a positive response to the global energy transition and sustainable development strategy but also a deep exploration of the application prospects of artificial intelligence technology in the energy storage field. Facing the trend of continuously increasing global renewable energy share and the increasingly urgent need for flexible resource regulation in power systems, the Energy Storage Society will be committed to promoting cross-disciplinary cooperation between artificial intelligence and energy storage technologies, breaking through traditional technological bottlenecks, and conducting systematic research in areas such as intelligent operation and maintenance, safety early warning, and optimized scheduling, injecting more intelligent elements into the future energy sector. Simultaneously, the AAIS Energy Storage Society will actively participate in and lead the formulation of relevant technical standards, enhancing the level of collaboration and influence in the global field of intelligent energy storage.


To further focus on key application scenarios, the Energy Storage Society of the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences (AAIS) established the “AI and Energy Storage-Enabled Power System Security and Stability Control Committee” in April 2026. The committee focuses on artificial intelligence- and energy storage-enabled theories, methods, and applications for power system security, stability, and resilient control. Its scope includes large-scale power system stability sensing and assessment, security analysis, coordinated control, disturbance identification, resilience enhancement, emergency response and post-event recovery, energy storage modeling, planning, operation, and control for power system security and stability enhancement, as well as the secure and stable integration of renewable energy, energy storage systems, and advanced power electronic devices in modern power systems. The committee will establish and maintain collaborative relationships and operational communication with universities, research institutes, industrial partners, power utilities, and international academic organizations, in order to continuously promote academic exchange, collaborative innovation, talent cultivation, and engineering applications in relevant domains. The committee consists of one honorary chairman, one chairman, one secretary-general, one vice-chairman, one deputy secretary-general, and three council members. The initial core members comprise eight (one chairman, one vice-chairman, one secretary-general, and one deputy secretary-general), with plans to recruit over 400 members within three years. The committee focuses on the theory, methods, and applications of artificial intelligence and energy storage technologies in the fields of power system security, stability, and resilience control. This includes large-scale power system stability perception and assessment, security analysis, coordinated control, fault identification, resilience enhancement, emergency response and post-event recovery, energy storage modeling, and planning, operation, and control for enhancing power system security and stability. It also dedicates itself to the safe and stable integration of renewable energy, energy storage systems, and advanced power electronic equipment.
